Job Overview:
Northern Cochise Community Hospital is looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented Hospital Data Entry Clerk to join our onsite team. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Support Services to maintain and update the hospital’s mainframe database, ensuring data accuracy and integrity in patient account information. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to teamwork, and adherence to hospital protocols for quality and data security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organize data for computer entry, following established protocols.
  • Accurately input and verify account information, including payments, adjustments, and account notes.
  • Review data for errors or discrepancies, notifying the Director of Support Services when needed.
  • Manage source documents and ensure accurate data processing.
  • Correct, delete, or update data as required, generating reports for departmental verification.
  • Assist with end-of-month and year-end processes, including audit preparation.
  • Scan, file, and manage cash folders and other documents per departmental procedures.

Additional Support Functions:

  • Provide support for monthly and annual balancing activities.
  • Assist with documentation for fiscal audits on a semi-annual and annual basis.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year in data entry, data processing, or computer operations.
    • Experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with HIPAA privacy standards preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient typing skills (minimum 40 wpm) and 10-key calculation skills.
    • Strong understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other computer applications.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous.
  • Abilities:
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Positive communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
    • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to adapt to a flexible schedule.
